Conspector was appointed to undertake Level 1 riser cupboard upgrade works as part of an ongoing hotel refurbishment and fire-safety improvement programme. The existing riser presented restricted access, exposed services and areas requiring improvement to support future maintenance and compartmentation.
The works involved careful site coordination within a live hotel environment, including access planning, protection of adjacent finishes, toolbox talks and liaison with hotel management to minimise disruption to operations. A temporary working platform was installed within the riser to allow safe access for operatives and tools during the works.
A galvanised Unistrut support frame was then installed to form the basis of a permanent maintenance platform. The frame was fixed back to the existing structure using resin-bonded fixings and fitted with galvanised open-grid floor panels, cut around existing services to provide improved access while maintaining service routes through the riser.
Fire-safety works included the installation of fire-rated wall linings to form an improved riser enclosure, together with fire-stopping to service penetrations using fire-rated materials. Photographic records and quality assurance checks were undertaken as part of the handover process.
